Virtual Forming, Inc. offers extensive experience in sheet metal forming simulation - from simple single-step crash forming to complex progressive and deep draw forming for Class A sheet metal components. Knowledge acquired through hundreds of research hours on the press floor created our understanding of real world forming and how it relates to the "virtual" world. Years of "hands-on" die trial experience, combined with correlating results back to simulation for improved accuracy, have generated our in-depth understanding of process methods and variability.
Virtual Forming, Inc. can provide metallurgical research coupled with simulation analysis to deliver a science based problem solving approach for product development. With ten years of experience in sheet metal forming analysis, optimized die and tooling designs can be provided before any chips are cut. In addition, our decades of experience troubleshooting press shop forming problems and studying the role of material properties and lubrication provide a tremendous technical foundation beyond just the dies.
Our special areas of expertise include higher strength steel, stainless steel, laminated steel, aluminum, hydroforming, and TWB (tailor welded blanks). Our powerful simulation software is PAM-STAMP 2G from ESI, Engineering Systems International. While much of our work is automotive related, the simulation software is capable of analyzing stampings for any sheet metal forming industry. Our customers range from OEMs to tooling suppliers to production press shops.
Utilizing sheet metal forming analysis in the virtual world, we can:
